Each activatable control is associated with a different reference library, and each is adapted to recognize characters input on the handwriting input area as belonging to the associated reference library. A method for handwriting recognition including the steps of selecting at least one character set from among a plurality of character sets and recognizing at least one character using the at least one selected character set.
