The present invention relates to a liquid detergent composition containing (a) a specific compound having one alkyl group selected from a 2-ethylhexyl group, an isononyl group and an isodecyl group, (b) anonionic surfactant having an alkyl or alkenyl group having 11 to 16 carbon atoms, (c) a hydrophobic organic solvent which is liquid at 20.degree. C. and (d) water, wherein (c)/(d) and (c)+(d) are respectively in a specific range.
