The invention relates to fullerene compounds of the following formula: ##STR00001## in which X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3, X.sub.4, X.sub.5, Y.sub.1, Y.sub.2, V, W, F, E, R, r, n, p, and q are defined as in the specification. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions containing one of the compounds described above.
