A humeral assembly for cooperation with an ulnar component to form a total elbow prosthesis is provided. The humeral component includes a first component including a portion thereof defining a stem for implantation in the cavity formed in the humerus. The first component defines a longitudinal axis thereof generally coincident with the longitudinal axis of the humerus and a second component. The second component is attached to the first component. The second component is attachable and removable from the first component along the longitudinal axis of the first component. One of the first component and the second component include a protrusion for controlling motion between the first component and the second component along the longitudinal axis of the first component and the other of the first component and the second component defines a void for cooperation with the protrusion.
