A nucleic acid is described that comprises at least one segment of the
gene encoding a functional segment of the alpha 2 subunit of the Na,K
pump (ATPase, ATP1A2) for use in the diagnosis or treatment of
pathologies associated with migraine or with alternating hemiplegia of
the childhood. Appropriate diagnostic kits and methods to identify
agonist or antagonist agents are also described.
