Aqueous, colloidal gas black suspension, containing a gas black, an azo compound of formula 1, ##STR1##

and water. The aqueous, colloidal gas black suspensions is produced in that the gas black and the azo compound of general formula 1 are dispersed in water. It may be used to produce inks, ink jet inks, paints, printing inks, latices, textiles, leather, adhesives, silicones, plastics materials, concrete and construction materials.
