A moving image (stream data) is transmitted/reproduced between a transmission
side
and a receiving side. At the receiving side, an image group configuring a moving
image is compressed in accordance with a predetermined compression scheme, and
the compressed image group is divided into a first image group and a second image
group. Then, the second image group is stored in a removably mounted storage means,
and the first image group is transmitted to the receiving side via a communication
line in real time. On the other hand, at the receiving side, the first image group
is received and displayed in real time via the communication line. Further, a storage
means having the second image group stored therein is acquired via a distribution
system, thereby reproducing an image group that configures a moving image from
the received first image group and the second image group read out from the storage means.
