A surgical drill chuck key comprising an elongated body of a cylindrical construction
having a smooth rounded surface. A key gear located at a first distal end of the
elongated body having a plurality of gear teeth with radiused knuckles. A handle
having an elongated shaft being constructed and arranged so that no sharp edges
are provided on the handle. The elongated shaft having a curved J-shape wherein
a first portion of the elongated shaft is directed back towards the elongated body
in a generally parallel arrangement to a second portion of the elongated shaft
extending radially outward from the elongated body so that the first portion and
the second portion of the elongated shaft cooperate to provide a thumb grip for
increased leverage when turning the key. The elongated body, gear teeth, and handle
being finished through an abrasive bead blasting process to round off all edges
and surfaces.
