An ammunition system for a rapid fire gun. The ammunition system includes a
bullet having a tip that is stored in a retracted position and during
flight is deployed create an aerodynamic shape. Another aspect of the
ammunition system is that the bullet has a cylindrical body having a first
length in storage and a second longer length after ignition of the
propellant.
