A process suitable for safely mass-producing, through a short step, cyclic
compounds useful in medicines, agricultural chemicals, foods, cosmetics,
and chemical products or as intermediates therefor. The process, which is
for producing a compound represented by the formula:

{wherein Z represents an electron-attracting group; W represents optionally
substituted ethylene or optionally substituted vinylene; R.sup.3
represents hydrogen or an optionally substituted hydrocarbon group; and X
represents a divalent group [provided that when W represents optionally
substituted vinylene, then --X--CH.sub.2 --Z is not --X.sup.1 --X.sup.2
--CH.sub.2 --Z (wherein X.sup.1 represents sulfur or optionally
substituted nitrogen and X.sup.2 represents optionally substituted
ethylene)]} or a salt thereof, is characterized by subjecting a compound
represented by the formula (II) or a salt thereof:

(wherein the symbols have the same meanings as the above) to a ring closure
reaction in a solvent containing a carbonic diester.
Un processo adatto sicuro a mass-producing, con un punto corto, il composto ciclico compone utile nelle medicine, nei prodotti chimici agricoli, in alimenti, in estetiche ed in prodotti chimici o come intermediari per questo. Il processo, che è per produrre un residuo ha rappresentato dalla formula: ## del ## STR1 {in cui la Z rappresenta un gruppo elettrone-attraentesi; Il W rappresenta l'etilene facoltativamente sostituito o il vinylene facoltativamente sostituito; R.sup.3 rappresenta l'idrogeno o un gruppo facoltativamente sostituito dell'idrocarburo; e la X rappresenta un gruppo bivalente [ a condizione che quando il W rappresenta il vinylene facoltativamente sostituito, quindi -- X -- il --Z CH.sub.2 non è -- X.sup.1 -- X.sup.2 -- il --Z CH.sub.2 (in cui X.sup.1 rappresenta lo zolfo o l'azoto facoltativamente sostituito e X.sup.2 rappresenta l'etilene facoltativamente sostituito) ]} o un sale di ciò, è caratterizzato sottoponendo un residuo rappresentato dalla formula (ii) o da un sale di ciò: ## del ## STR2 (in cui i simboli hanno gli stessi significati del suddetti) ad una reazione della chiusura dell'anello in un solvente che contiene un diestere carbonico.
