A viewpoint position detecting apparatus respectively detects first
position information representing a position with respect to a first
direction and second position information representing a position with
respect to a second direction using different methods. The methods used to
detect the first and second position information have different
precisions. The apparatus outputs the first and second position
information as the viewpoint position of a subject.
