A method of treating blood or plasma of a subject to remove metabolic contaminants by electrophoresis. Blood or plasma from the subject is placed in a first solvent stream, the first solvent stream being separated form a second solvent stream by an electrophoretic membrane. Applying an electric potential between the two solvent streams causes movement of metabolic contaminants from the blood or plasma through the membrane into the second solvent stream while cellular and biomolecular components of the blood or plasma are substantially retained in the first sample stream, or if entering the membrane, being substantially prevented from entering the second solvent stream. Optionally, periodically stopping and reversing the electric potential causes movement of any cellular and biomolecular components of the blood or plasma having entered the membrane to move back into the first solvent stream, wherein substantially not causing any metabolic contaminants that have entered the second solvent stream to re-enter first solvent stream. The potential is maintained until the desired amount of removal of the metabolic contaminants from the blood or plasma in the first solvent stream is achieved. The treated blood or plasma in the first solvent stream is returned to the subject.

Un método de tratar sangre o el plasma de a conforme a quita los contaminantes metabólicos por electrophoresis. La sangre o el plasma del tema se coloca en una primera corriente solvente, la primera corriente solvente que es forma separada a la segunda corriente solvente por una membrana electrophoretic. Aplicación de un potencial eléctrico entre el movimiento solvente de dos causas de las corrientes de contaminantes metabólicos de la sangre o del plasma a través de la membrana en la segunda corriente solvente mientras que los componentes celulares y biomoleculares de la sangre o del plasma se conservan substancialmente en la primera corriente de la muestra, o si entran en la membrana, substancialmente siendo prevenido de entrar en la segunda corriente solvente. Opcionalmente, periódicamente parando e invirtiendo el movimiento eléctrico de las causas del potencial de cualquieres componentes celulares y biomoleculares de la sangre o del plasma que entra en la membrana para moverse nuevamente dentro de la primera corriente solvente, en donde substancialmente no causa cualquieres contaminantes metabólicos que hayan entrado en la segunda corriente solvente para volver a entrar la primera corriente solvente. El potencial se mantiene hasta la cantidad deseada de retiro de los contaminantes metabólicos de la sangre o el plasma en la primera corriente solvente se alcanza. La sangre o el plasma tratada en la primera corriente solvente se vuelve al tema.
