Process for purifying glyphosate solutions by nanofiltration

   
   

A process to purify Glyphosate solutions (N-phosphonomethylglycine) originated from Glyphosate synthesis by oxidation of N-phosphonomethylimidodiacetic acid and containing formaldehyde and formic acid as main impurities, comprising the steps of: providing an initial solution of Glyphosate with a Glyphosate concentration ranging between 0.1 and 3% w/v, a formaldehyde concentration ranging between 0.5 and 1% w/v, and a formic acid concentration ranging between 0.1 and 0.6% w/v; adjusting the pH of the said initial Glyphosate solution to a value ranging between 2.5 and 3.5 with a base selected from alkylamine, ammonium hydroxide, sodium, or potassium hydroxide; submitting said solution to nanofiltration, at a temperature ranging between 10 and 35.degree. C. and a pressure ranging between 25 and 35 Kg/cm.sup.2; carrying out said nanofiltration through at least one nanofiltration membrane; recovering the concentrated Glyphosate solution; and discarding the permeate solution.

Un proceso para purificar las soluciones de Glyphosate (N-phosphonomethylglycine) originó de la síntesis de Glyphosate por la oxidación del ácido de N-phosphonomethylimidodiacetic y formaldehído y ácido fórmico el contener como impurezas principales, abarcando los pasos de: proveer de una solución inicial de Glyphosate una concentración de Glyphosate que se extiende entre 0.1 y el 3% w/v, una concentración del formaldehído que se extiende entre 0.5 y el 1% w/v, y una concentración del ácido fórmico que se extiende entre 0.1 y 0.6% w/v; ajustando el pH de la solución inicial dicha de Glyphosate a un valor que se extiende entre 2.5 y 3.5 con una base seleccionada de alkylamine, del hidróxido de amonio, del sodio, o del hidróxido del potasio; sometiendo la solución dicha al nanofiltration, en una temperatura que se extiende entre 10 y 35.degree. C. y una presión que se extiende entre 25 y 35 Kg/cm.sup.2; realizar el nanofiltration dicho a través por lo menos de una membrana del nanofiltration; recuperación de la solución concentrada de Glyphosate; y desechando la solución empapada.
