The invention pertains, at least in part, to a method for treating
metabolic syndrome in a subject. The method includes administering to a
subject an effective amount of a compound of formula (I). The compound of
formula (I) is: 1
wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently H or methyl, and enantiomers
and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
