The invention is directed to copolymers, which can be formed into water
vapor permeable, water resistant membranes suitable for use in garments,
tents, etc. A copolymer includes a random distribution of a soft segment
comprising a hydrophilic soft segment and up to about 30 wt % of a
hydrophobic soft segment, a hard segment, a cross-linking segment
comprising a pendant alkoxysilane, and at least two terminal groups
comprising at least one of an amine and an isocyanate having a
functionality of at least 2, wherein a number average molecular weight
(M.sub.n) of the copolymer is at least about 10,000.
