A suction reed valve includes a central ring shaped body having a pair of
tabs extending radially outward. One of the pair of tabs is fixed to a
valve plate and the other tab is free to move. A necked down region is
located between the fixed tab and the central ring shaped body to
facilitate the bending/deflection of the suction reed valve.
