Stabilized polyester fibers and films

   
   

Disclosed are fibers and films prepared from polyesters of a dicarboxylic acid, preferably terephthalic acid, and a diol selected from 1,3-cyclohexanedimethanol, 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, or 1,3-propanediol. The fibers and films contain a multifunctional epoxide additive and, optionally, an antioxidant, and show an increased dry heat stability when exposed to elevated temperatures in the presence of air while preserving excellent hydrolytic stability. Also disclosed is a process for stabilizing polyester fibers by melt blending a polyester and epoxide additive and melt spinning. The fibers and films are particularly useful in applications requiring elevated temperatures.

São divulgadas as fibras e as películas preparadas dos poliésteres de um ácido dicarboxylic, do ácido preferivelmente terephthalic, e de um diol selecionado de 1,3-cyclohexanedimethanol, de 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, ou de 1,3-propanediol. As fibras e as películas contêm um aditivo multifunctional do epoxide e, opcionalmente, um antioxidant, e mostram uma estabilidade seca aumentada do calor quando expostas às temperaturas elevated na presença do ar ao preservar a estabilidade hydrolytic excelente. É divulgado também um processo para estabilizar fibras do poliéster pelo derretimento que mistura girar do poliéster e do aditivo e de derretimento do epoxide. As fibras e as películas são particularmente úteis nas aplicações que requerem temperaturas elevated.
