The use of hydroxystilbene compounds of formula

R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are each independently of
the others hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.16 alkyl, C.sub.1
-C.sub.16 alkoxy, phenyl; C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 phenylalkyl; C.sub.6 -C.sub.10
aryloxy, amino, mono-C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkylamino, di-C.sub.1 -C.sub.5
alkylamino, or --NO.sub.2 ;
as microbicidal active ingredients is described.
The compounds exhibit a pronounced action against pathogenic gram-positive
and gram-negative bacteria, and also against yeasts and moulds. They are
therefore suitable for the antimicrobial treatment, especially the
preservation and disinfection, of surfaces.
L'uso dei residui del hydroxystilbene del ## del ## STR1 di formula in cui A è un radicale del ## del ## STR2 di formula o un radicale del ## del ## STR3 di formula e di R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 e R.sub.5 sono indipendentemente ciascuno dagli altri idrogeno, l'alogeno, idrossilato, C.sub.1 - C.sub.16 l'alchile, C.sub.1 - C.sub.16 alcossi, fenilico; C.sub.1 - Phenylalkyl C.sub.3; C.sub.6 - Aryloxy C.sub.10, amminico, mono-C.sub.1 - C.sub.5 alkylamino, di-C.sub.1 - alkylamino C.sub.5, o -- NO.sub.2; come microbicida gli ingredienti attivi è descritto. I residui esibiscono un'azione pronounced contro i batteri gram-positivi e gram-negativi patogeni ed anche contro i lieviti e le muffe. Sono quindi adatti a trattamento antimicrobico, particolarmente a conservazione ed a disinfezione, delle superfici.
