In a booklet maker, as would be found in conjunction with a copier or
printer, sheets to be folded and stapled into a booklet are accumulated in
a slot. At the bottom of the slot, a selectably extendable contact member
presses an accumulating set of sheets against a sidewall of the slot
following the entry of each new sheet into the slot. The contact member
decreases curling and fluffing of sheets within the slot, which can cause
imprecisions in registering, stapling, or creasing of the sheets as they
are formed into a booklet.
