The invention discloses a time-of-flight method and apparatus for rapid and high resolution measurement of the optical characteristics of a set of superimposed thin layers within an object, penetrated by an illuminating beam of light. The very high temporal, spectral and spatial resolutions are obtained by illuminating the object with a femtosecond laser and collecting the data characteristic of the different layers simultaneously, by sampling the scattered radiation in the time domain, using a chain of linked non-linear gates.

La invención divulga un método y un aparato del tiempo-de-vuelo para la medida rápida y de alta resolución de las características ópticas de un sistema de capas delgadas sobrepuestas dentro de un objeto, penetrado por un haz que ilumina de luz. Las resoluciones temporales, espectrales y espaciales muy altas son obtenidas iluminando el objeto con un laser del femtosecond y recogiendo los datos característicos de las diversas capas simultáneamente, muestreando la radiación dispersada en el dominio de tiempo, usando una cadena de puertas no lineares ligadas.
