Compounds of general formula (I):

wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, X, Y and A have the meanings
given herein which are useful in the curative and prophylactic treatment
of a medical condition for which inhibition of a cyclic guanosine
3',5'-monophosphate phosphodiesterase (e.g. cGMP PDE5) is desired.
Compuestos del fórmula general (i): ## del ## STR1 en donde R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, X, Y y A tienen los significados dados adjunto que son útiles en el tratamiento curativo y profiláctico de una condición médica para la cual la inhibición de un guanosine cíclico 3', phosphodiesterase 5'-monophosphate (e.g. GMP PDE5) se desee.
