This invention provides a water based paint composition containing
polyurethane resin which is formed by urethanation reaction of
polyisocyanate compound with polyalkylene glycol and a further reaction of
so formed isocyanate-containing prepolymer with a monohydric alcohol
having at least 5 carbons, and water-soluble organic solvent having
boiling point not higher than 150.degree. C.; and provides also a process
for forming multi-layered coating, which comprises applying onto a
metallic object cationic electropaint, above-described water based paint
composition, water based intermediate coating and top coating, by the
order stated.
