An acid generating agent useful for imaging photosensitive elements
selected from compounds of formulae (I), (II) and (III).

wherein R.sup.1 is selected from the group consisting of an unsubstituted
and substituted hydrocarbon or aryl group;
wherein X is selected from the group consisting of oxygen, sulfur and
selenium;
wherein Y is selected from the group consisting of sulfur, selenium and
tellurium;
wherein Ar.sup.1 is selected from the group consisting of an unsubstituted
and substituted aryl group;
wherein R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are individually selected from the
group consisting of an unsubstituted and substituted hydrocarbon or aryl
group or any two of them are bonded together to form a ring structure; and
wherein R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are individually selected from the group of an
unsubstituted and substituted hydrocarbon or aryl group, or are bonded to
each other to form a ring structure.
Un agente di generazione acido utile per gli elementi fotosensibili di formazione immagine scelti dai residui delle formule (i), (ii) e (iii). ## del ## STR1 in cui R.sup.1 è scelto dal gruppo che consiste di un gruppo non sostituito e sostituito dell'arile o dell'idrocarburo; in cui la X è scelta dall'ossigeno, dallo zolfo e dal selenio consistenti del gruppo; in cui Y è scelto dallo zolfo, dal selenio e dal tellurio consistenti del gruppo; in cui Ar.sup.1 è scelto dal gruppo che consiste di un arilico non sostituito e sostituito raggruppi; in cui R.sup.2, R.sup.3 e R.sup.4 sono scelti individualmente dal gruppo che consiste di un non sostituito ed il gruppo sostituito dell'arile o dell'idrocarburo o qualunque due di loro è legato insieme per formare una struttura dell'anello; ed in cui R.sup.5 e R.sup.6 sono scelti individualmente dal gruppo di un gruppo non sostituito e sostituito dell'arile o dell'idrocarburo, o sono legati l'un l'altro per formare una struttura dell'anello.
