The present invention provides novel compounds of the Formula I

and prodrugs thereof, geometric and optical isomers thereof, and
pharmaceutically acceptable salts of such compounds, prodrugs and isomers,
wherein R.sup.1 to R.sup.8 and W are as described herein. Pharmaceutical
compositions containing such compounds, prodrugs, isomers or
pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and methods, pharmaceutical
compositions and kits for treating obesity, overweight condition,
hyperlipidemia, thyroid disease, hypothyroidism, thyroid cancer and
related disorders and diseases such as diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis,
hypertension, coronary heart disease, hypercholesteremia, depression,
osteoporosis, cardiac arrhythmias, glaucoma and congestive heart failure
are also provided.
De onderhavige uitvinding verstrekt nieuwe samenstellingen van Formule I ## STR1 ## en prodrugs daarvan, geometrische en optische isomeren daarvan, en farmaceutisch aanvaardbare zouten van dergelijke samenstellingen, prodrugs en isomeren, waarin R.sup.1 aan R.sup.8 en W zoals hierin beschreven zijn. De farmaceutische samenstellingen die dergelijke samenstellingen, prodrugs, isomeren of farmaceutisch aanvaardbare zouten daarvan, en methodes, farmaceutische samenstellingen en uitrustingen voor het behandelen van zwaarlijvigheid, te zware voorwaarde, hyperlipidemia, schildklierziekte, hypothyroidism, schildklierkanker en verwante wanorde en ziekten zoals diabetes bevatten mellitus, atherosclerose, hypertensie, coronaire hartkwaal, hypercholesteremia, depressie, osteoporose, hartaritmie, worden glaucoom en congestiehartverlamming ook verstrekt.
