A light duty liquid compositions comprising .alpha.-sulfofatty acid ester,
hydrotrope, and nonionic surfactant. The .alpha.-sulfofatty acid ester and
the hydrotrope stabilize the composition, by reducing pH drift and/or
solubilizing the .alpha.-sulfofatty acid ester in solution. Methods are
also disclosed for making such compositions.
