Embodiments of the invention relate to C2-substituted indan-1-ones and to
their physiologically acceptable salts and physiologically functional
derivatives. Compounds of embodiments of the invention include compounds
of formula I

salts and processes for their preparation. The compounds are suitable, for
example, for use as anorectics.
