The present invention relates to the use of calcitonin gene-related peptide
(CGRP) in the prevention and alleviation of asthmatic symptoms. In
contrast to other therapeutic agents now in use, CGRP combines both
bronchoprotector and anti-inflammatory properties. Furthermore, it
prevents both early and late phase bronchial responses associated with an
asthma attack and its effective dose is small enough that undesirable
haemodynamic side effects are not present.
De onderhavige uitvinding heeft op het gebruik van calcitonin op gen betrekking hebbende peptide (CGRP) in de preventie en de vermindering van astmatische symptomen betrekking. In tegenstelling tot andere therapeutische agenten nu in gebruik, combineert CGRP zowel bronchoprotector als anti-inflammatory eigenschappen. Voorts verhindert het zowel vroege als recente fase bronchiale reacties verbonden aan een astmaaanval en zijn efficiënte dosis is klein dat de ongewenste haemodynamic bijwerkingen niet genoeg aanwezig zijn.
