An actuating device for hydraulically securing a camshaft of an engine of a
motor vehicle in a start position has a solenoid valve controlling the
flow of a pressure medium to a camshaft adjuster with a rotary slide valve
that is fixedly connected to the camshaft and moves the camshaft into the
required start position according to the pressure medium supplied to it by
the solenoid valve.
