The invention relates to a method for producing N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine
involving the following steps: (a) oxidizing
N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid (PMIDA) with peroxides or oxygen in
an aqueous medium and in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst at a
temperature ranging from 50 to 150.degree. C.; (b) subsequently separating
the solid catalyst out of the aqueous reaction suspension of step (a); (c)
concentrating the clear reaction solution from step (b), especially by
evaporation, and; (d) separating the N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine out of the
concentrated reaction solution from step (c), especially by filtration.
According to the invention, the aqueous reaction solution from step (d)
(mother liquor) is returned with small amounts of
N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine and byproducts to step (b) (catalyst
separation) and/or to step (c) (concentration). This results in distinctly
increasing the yield with a constant product purity and in noticeably
reducing the amount of mother liquor.
De uitvinding heeft op een methode om n-(phosphonomethyl)glycine betrekking te produceren implicerend de volgende stappen: (a) oxyderend n-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic zuur (PMIDA) met peroxyden of zuurstof in een waterig milieu en in aanwezigheid van een heterogeene katalysator bij een temperatuur die zich van 50 aan 150.degree. C. uitstrekt; (b) later scheidend de stevige katalysator uit de waterige reactieopschorting van stap (a); (c) het concentreren van de duidelijke reactieoplossing van stap (b), vooral door verdamping, en; (d) het scheiden van n-(phosphonomethyl)glycine uit de geconcentreerde reactieoplossing van stap (c), vooral door filtratie. Volgens de uitvinding, is de waterige reactieoplossing van stap (d) (moederalcoholische drank) teruggekomen met kleine hoeveelheden n-(phosphonomethyl)glycine en bijproducten aan stap (b) (katalysatorscheiding) en/of op stap (c) (concentratie). Dit resulteert in duidelijk het verhogen van de opbrengst met een constante productzuiverheid en in merkbaar het verminderen van de hoeveelheid moederalcoholische drank.
