One aspect of the invention relates to anti-viral composition containing at
least one zinc compound and at least one phenolic antioxidant (and
optionally other ingredients such as at least one analgesic) at least one
hydrocarbyl containing compound, and water. Another aspect of the
invention relates to a method of treating lesionous symptoms of a viral
infection involving applying an effective amount of the zinc containing
anti-viral composition to the lesions.
