A process for preparing cephalosporanic acid derivatives comprises the
steps of enzymatically converting a 3-thiolated cephalosporin C compound
of formula III:

into a 3-thiolated-.alpha.-ketoadipyl-7-aminocephalosporanic acid
derivative of formula IV:
##STR2##
wherein R is a heterocyclic group comprising at least a nitrogen atom.
Compounds of formula IV are used in the preparation of cephalosporin C
antibiotics and derivatives thereof.
Een proces om cephalosporanic zure derivaten voor te bereiden bestaat uit de stappen van enzymatisch het omzetten van een 3-thiolated cephalosporin C samenstelling van formule III: ## STR1 ## in een 3-thiolated-.alpha.-ketoadipyl-7-aminocephalosporanic zuur derivaat van formule IV: ## STR2 ## waarin R een heterocyclische groep die minstens uit een stikstofatoom bestaat is. De samenstellingen van formule IV worden daarvan gebruikt in de voorbereiding van cephalosporin C antibiotica en derivaten.
