The invention relates to polymeric phosphinic acids and their salts of the
formula (I)

in which
X is hydrogen or a 1/m metal of valency m,
R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are identical or different and are hydrogen, a carboxyl
group, a carboxylic acid derivative, an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl
group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, phenyl, benzyl or alkyl-substituted
aromatics,
R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are identical or different and are hydrogen or a vinyl
group of the formula (VI)
--CR.sub.1.dbd.CHR.sub.2 (VI)
in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the abovementioned meaning, and
u is the average number of monomer units.
The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of the
abovementioned compounds and their use.
A invenção relaciona-se aos ácidos phosphinic polymeric e seus sais do ## do ## STR1 da fórmula (I) em que X é hidrogênio ou um metal de 1/m do valency m, R.sub.1 e R.sub.2 são idênticos ou diferentes e são hidrogênio, um grupo carboxyl, um derivative ácido carboxylic, um unsubstituted ou o grupo alkyl substituído que tem 1 a 10 átomos de carbono, phenyl, compostos aromáticos benzyl ou alkyl-substituted, R.sub.3 e R.sub.4 é idêntico ou diferente e é hidrogênio ou um grupo do vinil da fórmula (vi) -- CR.sub.1.dbd.CHR.sub.2 (vi) em que R.sub.1 e R.sub.2 têm o meaning acima mencionado, e u são o número médio de unidades do monomer. A invenção relaciona-se também a um processo para a preparação dos compostos acima mencionados e de seu uso.
