A process for preparing a heat curable powder coating composition comprises
exposing a powder comprising a carboxyl-functional polymer and a polyepoxy
compound to an amine selected from the group consisting of organic amines
and ammonia under mild conditions, particularly temperatures of between
-30.degree. C. and 50.degree. C.
