The invention provides a method for treating a subject with venlafaxine,
comprising administering to the subject a formulation having a
therapeutically effective amount of venlafaxine or a pharmaceutically
acceptable salt thereof, wherein the formulation provides a delayed burst
release after at least three hours resulting in dispersion mainly through
the colon of the active ingredient into the blood stream as a result of
colon absorption over a period of at least 24 hours.
