An onboard, multi-channel vehicle communication system uses a wireless
hand-held control and display unit which can be removed from a charging
cradle and moved about the interior of an automotive vehicle. An alarm
function reminds the user of the hand-held unit that he/she is leaving the
immediate area of the vehicle.
