The digital protection system for a high voltage electricity network to
instruct circuit breakers to open in the event of faults being detected by
current and/or voltage sensors on the network lines 4 connected to the
circuit breakers. The digital protection system includes an infrared data
transmission link with a portable telephone. Transmissions between the
digital protection system and the portable telephone uses the wireless
application protocol WAP.
