A system and method allowing a consumer to make a purchase within a retail area and to remove that purchased item from the retail area without causing an alarm by an electronic article surveillance (EAS) system. The system first identifies the consumer and the product to be purchased, then validates the selected item. If the selected product is a valid selection, then the system posts the transaction to the consumer's account, optionally including a convenience charge, and commands the EAS to allow removal of the purchased item from the secured retail area, thereby allowing the consumer to make the purchase and avoid waiting for the availability of a human cashier or salesperson.

Un système et une méthode permettant à un consommateur de faire un achat dans un secteur au détail et d'enlever cet article acheté du secteur au détail sans causer une alarme par un système électronique de la surveillance d'article (EAS). Le système d'abord identifie le consommateur et le produit à acheter, puis valide l'article choisi. Si le produit choisi est un choix valide, alors le système signale la transaction au compte du consommateur, sur option comprenant une charge de convenance, et commande l'EAS pour permettre le déplacement de l'article acheté du secteur au détail fixé, permettant de ce fait au consommateur de faire l'achat et de l'éviter d'attendre la disponibilité d'un caissier ou d'un vendeur humain.
