A composition is provided for treating diseased, injured or diseased cartilage comprising hyaluronic acid and a growth factor. The composition has a viscosity and biodegradability sufficient to persist at the site for a period of time sufficient to alleviate the symptoms of the disease, injury or abnormality. Preferably hyaluronic acid is used in a composition range of 0.01-4% by weight and the preferred growth factor is IGF-I, present in a concentration range of about 10.sup.-6 to 100 mg/ml.

Een samenstelling wordt verstrekt voor het behandelen van ziek, verwond of ziek kraakbeen bestaand uit hyaluronic zuur en een de groeifactor. De samenstelling heeft een viscositeit en een biologische afbreekbaarheid voldoende om bij de plaats voor een tijdspanne voort te duren voldoende om de symptomen van de ziekte, de verwonding of de abnormaliteit te verminderen. Het bij voorkeur hyaluronic zuur wordt gebruikt in een samenstellingswaaier van 0,01-4% in gewicht en de aangewezen de groeifactor is igf-I, heden in een concentratiewaaier van ongeveer 10.sup.-6 tot 100 mg/ml.
