A memberane sensitive to anions is obtained by forming into a membrane either a composition comprising an onium salt compound such as trioctylmethylammonium chloride or tetraoctylammonium bromide, and an aromatic boric diester compound such as (p-alkyloxy)phenyl borate, or a composition which comprises these two ingredients and a membrane-forming polymer such as polyvinyl chloride or polystyrene, and may further contain a fat-soluble anion salt such as tetraphenyl borate. This membrane can yield an ion-selective electrode which permits hydrogencarbonate ions contained in body fluids to be rapidly determined with high sensitivity and high selectivity and which has a long life.

Un memberane sensible a los aniones es obtenido formando en una membrana una composición que abarca un compuesto de la sal del onium tal como cloruro del trioctylmethylammonium o bromuro del tetraoctylammonium, y un compuesto bórico aromático del diester por ejemplo (el borato del p-alkyloxy)phenyl, o una composición que abarque estos dos ingredientes y un polímero de membrana-formacio'n tal como cloruro de polivinilo o poliestireno, y puede contener más lejos una sal soluble en la grasa del anión tal como borato del tetraphenyl. Esta membrana puede rendir un electrodo ion-selective que permita los iones del hydrogencarbonate contenidos en los fluídos corporales que se determinarán rápidamente con alta sensibilidad y alta selectividad y que tenga una vida larga.
