The present invention relates to a lithium ion secondary battery using as the negative active material thereof a carbon material that enables the absorption and release of lithium ions and has volume resistivity not exceeding 5.0.times.10.sup.-3 ohmcm, thereby preventing battery temperatures from increasing abruptly due to low volume resistivity of the carbon material even when short-circuiting takes place inside of the battery.

La actual invención se relaciona con una batería secundaria del ion del litio usando como el material activo negativo de eso un material del carbón que permita la absorción y el lanzamiento de los iones del litio y tenga resistencia de volumen el no exceder del ohmcm 5.0.times.10.sup.-3, de tal modo evitando que las temperaturas de la batería aumenten precipitadamente debido a la resistencia del bajo volumen del carbón material incluso cuando cortocircuitos ocurre dentro de la batería.
