This invention relates to methods that can be used for the safe storage and transportation of freight rail wheelsets. The object of this invention is to prevent the direct contact between the roller bearings or axle and the adjacent wheelset flange. To do this at storage sites the application of a roller bearing or axle protector to the present wheelset stacking arrangement is required. During transportation this objective is achieved by (a) applying roller bearing protectors, (b) applying axle protectors, (c) shifting the wheelsets on the wheel transporter so that roller bearing and adjacent wheel flange never come in contact, (d) applying wheelset stoppers and/or axle spacers.

Cette invention concerne les méthodes qui peuvent être employées pour le stockage et le transport sûrs des wheelsets de rail de fret. L'objet de cette invention est d'empêcher le contact direct entre les roulements à rouleaux ou l'axe et la bride adjacente de wheelset. Pour faire ceci aux dépôts l'application d'un protecteur de roulement à rouleaux ou d'axe à l'arrangement d'empilement de wheelset actuel est exigée. Pendant le transport cet objectif est atteint (a) en appliquant des protecteurs de roulement à rouleaux, (b) appliquant des protecteurs d'axe, (c) décalant les wheelsets sur le transporteur de roue de sorte que le roulement à rouleaux et la bride adjacente de roue ne viennent jamais en contact, (d) appliquant des taquets de wheelset et/ou des entretoises d'axe.
