Compounds represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, and R.sup.6 independently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group, or a C.sub.1-6 alkoxyl group, R.sup.7 and R.sup.8 independently represent a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group or an aryl group which may be substituted, R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 independently represent a hydrogen atom, a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group, or a C.sub.1-6 alkoxyl group, and R.sup.11 represents a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1-6 alkanoyl group, or salts thereof. The aforementioned compounds are substantially non-fluorescent and react with singlet oxygen under a physiological condition to give a fluorescent substance, and therefore they are useful as agents for measurement of singlet oxygen.

Mittel dargestellt durch die folgende allgemeine Formel (i): ## STR1 ## worin R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 und R.sup.6 unabhängig ein Wasserstoffatom, ein Halogenatom, eine Alkylgruppe C.sub.1-6 oder eine Alkoxylgruppe C.sub.1-6 darstellen, stellen R.sup.7 und R.sup.8 unabhängig eine Alkylgruppe C.sub.1-6 oder eine Aryl- Gruppe, die ersetzt werden können, R.sup.9 dar und R.sup.10 stellt unabhängig ein Wasserstoffatom, eine Alkylgruppe C.sub.1-6 oder eine Alkoxylgruppe C.sub.1-6 dar, und R.sup.11 stellt ein Wasserstoffatom oder eine alkanoyl C.sub.1-6 Gruppe oder Salze davon dar. Die vorher erwähnten Mittel sind im wesentlichen nichtfluoreszierend und reagieren mit Unterhemdsauerstoff unter einer physiologischen Bedingung, um eine Leuchtstoffsubstanz zu geben, und folglich sind sie als Mittel für Maß des Unterhemdsauerstoffes nützlich.
