Process for the preparation of perfluorocarboxylic acids of the formula R.sub.F --COOH, salts thereof and esters thereof from perfluoroalkyl iodides of the formula R.sub.F '--I, in which R.sub.F and R.sub.F ' are cyclic, branched or linear, saturated or unsaturated perfluoroalkyl radicals, by activating the perfluoroalkyl iodides in the presence of oxygen and in organic solvents.

Prozeß für die Vorbereitung der perfluorocarboxylic Säuren der Formel R.sub.F -- cooh, Salze davon und Ester davon von den perfluoroalkyl Jodiden der Formel R.sub.F ' - - I, in dem R.sub.F und R.sub.F ' zyklisch sind, britt sich oder lineare, gesättigte oder ungesättigte perfluoroalkyl Radikale aus, indem er die perfluoroalkyl Jodide in Anwesenheit des Sauerstoffes und in organische Lösungsmittel aktivierte.
