If deceleration in excess of a predetermined value is detected (step 104 in
FIG. 2), a speed integral value .DELTA.V as time integration of the
deceleration is calculated (step 110 in FIG. 2). A segment length of a
characteristic curve of the speed integral value .DELTA.V in a
predetermined range is calculated (steps 112, 114 in FIG. 2) . If it is
decided that the segment length is smaller than a predetermined value
l.sub.2 (step 116 in FIG. 2), the crash is decided as the low speed crash,
etc. other than a soft crash. An air bag is inflated if the speed integral
value .DELTA.V exceeds a predetermined threshold value V.sub.TH, whereas
the speed integral value .DELTA.V is incremented by a predetermined value
.alpha. (step 118 in FIG. 2) if it is decided that the segment length
exceeds l.sub.2 (step 116 in FIG. 2). Then, if it is decided that the
speed integral value .DELTA.V exceeds the threshold value V.sub.TH (step
112 in FIG. 2), inflation of the air bag is executed to detect generation
of the soft crash.
Wenn Geschwindigkeitsverminderung mehr als notwendig einen vorbestimmten Wert ermittelt wird (Schritt 104 in FIG. 2), ein Geschwindigkeit Integralwert DELTA.V Als Zeitintegration der Geschwindigkeitsverminderung wird errechnet (Schritt 110 in FIG. 2). Eine Segmentlänge einer Kennlinie des Geschwindigkeit Integralwert DELTA.V In einer vorbestimmten Strecke wird errechnet (Schritte 112, 114 in FIG. 2). Wenn es entschieden wird, daß die Segmentlänge kleiner als ist, ein vorbestimmter Wert l.sub.2 (Schritt 116 in FIG. 2), der Abbruch wird als der langsame Abbruch, etc. anders als einen weichen Abbruch entschieden. Ein Luftsack wird aufgeblasen, wenn das Geschwindigkeit Integralwert DELTA.V Einen vorbestimmten Schwellenwert V.sub.TH übersteigt, während das Geschwindigkeit Integralwert DELTA.V Durch ein vorbestimmtes Wert alpha. erhöht wird (Schritt 118 in FIG. 2), wenn es entschieden wird, daß die Segmentlänge l.sub.2 übersteigt (Schritt 116 in FIG. 2). Dann wenn es entschieden wird, daß das Geschwindigkeit Integralwert DELTA.V Den Schwellenwert V.sub.TH übersteigt (Schritt 112 in FIG. 2), Inflation des Luftsacks, wird durchgeführt, um Erzeugung des weichen Abbruchs zu ermitteln.
