The ophthalmic composition of this invention are used for treatment of diabetic corneal lesion and/or for treatment of deteriorated corneal esthesia, which comprises, as an active ingredient, a compound represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein A and B are independently lower alkylene, X, Y, and Z are independently halogen, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof. In addition, the ophthalmic composition of this invention are used for treatment of non-diabetic corneal lesion, for treatment of dry eye syndrome, and/or for treatment of hypolacrimation which comprises, as an active ingredient, an aldose reductase inhibitor. The ophthalmic compositions of this invention are effective for treatment of at least one disease selected among corneal lesion, deteriorated corneal esthesia, dry eye syndrome, and hypolacrimation.

La composición oftálmica de esta invención se utiliza para el tratamiento de la lesión córnea diabética y/o para el tratamiento del esthesia córneo deteriorado, que abarca, como ingrediente activo, un compuesto representado por el fórmula general (i): ## del ## STR1 en donde A y B son independientemente un alkylene más bajo, X, Y, y Z es independientemente halógeno, o una sal farmacológico aceptable de eso. Además, la composición oftálmica de esta invención se utiliza para el tratamiento de la lesión córnea no-diabe'tica, para el tratamiento del síndrome seco del ojo, y/o para el tratamiento del hypolacrimation que abarca, como ingrediente activo, un inhibidor del reductase del aldose. Las composiciones oftálmicas de esta invención son eficaces para el tratamiento por lo menos de una enfermedad seleccionada entre la lesión córnea, el esthesia córneo deteriorado, el síndrome seco del ojo, y el hypolacrimation.
