The present invention relates to resins obtained by reacting a compound of formula 1 with an aldehyde and alkoxylating, in any order: ##STR1## wherein X is --OH, Y is ortho-, meta- or para- to X and is a radical of formula 4, ##STR2## wherein R.sup.5 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.30 -alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.30 -alkenyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.18 -aryl, or C.sub.7 -C.sub.30 -alkylaryl. The resin has a molecular mass from 250 to 100,000 and is useful in methods of breaking oil-water emulsions.

Die anwesende Erfindung bezieht auf den Harzen, die indem sie ein Mittel von Formel 1 mit einem Aldehyde reagiert und, in jedem möglichem Auftrag erhalten werden, alkoxylating: ## STR1 ## worin X ist --OH, Y ist ortho -, ist Meta- oder Punkt zu X und ein Radikal von Formel 4, ## STR2 ##, worin R.sup.5 ein C.sub.1 ist - C.sub.30 - Alkyl, C.sub.2 - C.sub.30 - Alkenyl, C.sub.6 - C.sub.18 - Aryl oder C.sub.7 - C.sub.30 - alkylaryl. Das Harz hat eine molekulare Masse von 250 bis 100.000 und ist in den Methoden des Brechens der Öl-Wasser Emulsionen nützlich.
