The present invention provides a process of preparing a compound of the
formula IV

-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)alkoxy or phenyl,
R.sup.3 is H or -(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)alkyl,
R.sup.6 is --NR.sup.7 R.sup.8, morpholin-1-yl, imidazol-1-yl,
4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl, thiomorpholin-1-yl, piperazin-1-yl or
piperazin-1-yl substituted with -(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkyl or

and R.sup.7 and R.sup.8 are each individually hydrogen, -(C.sub.1
-C.sub.6)alkyl, --(CH.sub.2).sub.p OH,

-C.sub.6)alkyl, --(CH.sub.2).sub.p O(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)alkyl

where R.sup.9 is (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)alkyl;
P is an integer from 1-3 both inclusive;
q is 0 or 1; and
t is 1 to 6 both inclusive;
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, hydrate or optical isomer thereof,
which is useful as a neuroprotective agent.
De onderhavige uitvinding verstrekt een proces om een samenstelling van formule IV ## STR1 ## voor te bereiden waarin: R.sup.1 en R.sup.2 zijn elke individueel -(C.sub.1 - C.sub.6)alkyl, -(C.sub.1 - C.sub.6)alkoxy of het fenyl, R.sup.3 zijn H of -(C.sub.1 - C.sub.6)alkyl, R.sup.6 is -- NR.sup.7 R.sup.8, morpholin-1, imidazol-1, 4.5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2, thiomorpholin-1, piperazin-1 of piperazin-1 gesubstitueerd met -(C.sub.1 - C.sub.4)alkyl of ## STR2 ## en R.sup.7 en R.sup.8 zijn elke individueel waterstof, -(C.sub.1 - C.sub.6)alkyl, -- (CH.sub.2).sub.p OH, ## STR3 ## -- (CH.sub.2).sub.p - piperidyl, -- (CH.sub.2).sub.p S(C.sub.1 - C.sub.6)alkyl, -- (CH.sub.2).sub.p O(C.sub.1 - C.sub.6)alkyl ## STR4 ## waar R.sup.9 is (C.sub.1 - C.sub.6)alkyl; P is een geheel van inclusieve 1-3 zowel; q is 0 of 1; en t is inclusieve 1 tot 6 zowel; of een farmaceutisch aanvaardbaar zout, een hydraat of een optische isomeer daarvan, die als neuroprotective agent nuttig is.
