The present invention provides: an acrylic acid-maleic acid copolymer (or its salt) which is excellent in performances, such as Mg.sup.2+ scavengeability, clay dispersibility in the presence of Mg.sup.2+, inhibitability upon Mg(OH).sub.2 scale, and inhibitability upon CaCO.sub.3 scale; and a production process for such a copolymer (or its salt). The present invention further provides a production process for an aqueous maleic salt solution with a low impurity content which has the advantage of easily giving the above copolymer (or its salt). The present invention still further provides uses of the above copolymer (or its salt) having the above excellent properties.

Die anwesende Erfindung stellt zur Verfügung: ein Säure-bösartiges saures acrylsauercopolymer (oder sein Salz) das in den Leistungen, wie Mg.sup.2+ scavengeability, Lehmzerstreubarkeit in Anwesenheit Mg.sup.2+, inhibitability nach Skala Mg(OH).sub.2 und inhibitability nach Skala CaCO.sub.3 ausgezeichnet ist; und ein Produktion Prozeß für solch ein Copolymer (oder sein Salz). Die anwesende weitere Erfindung versieht einen Produktion Prozeß für eine wäßrige bösartige Salzlösung mit einem niedrigen Störstellengehalt, der den Vorteil von das oben genannte Copolymer (oder hat sein Salz) leicht geben. Die anwesende Erfindung liefert weiterhin Gebrauch des oben genannten Copolymers (oder seines Salzes), welche die oben genannten ausgezeichneten Eigenschaften haben.
