In a mass storage library, an input/output station for inserting cartridges into and out of the library includes a door pivotally mounted to the station through cams that pivotally rotate a toggle bracket having fingers, one for each cartridge cell in the input/output station. Each cartridge used at least in the input/output station includes a cartridge orientation indicator in the form of a recess at one top edge of each cartridge. After inserting the cartridges into the cells of the input/output station, the door is closed rotating the toggle bracket and its fingers into the recess of each cartridge. The door will close if all of the cartridges have the recess correctly oriented to permit the fingers to clear the cartridges. If at least any one or more of the cartridges are incorrectly inserted into the cell of the station, the toggle bracket fingers will not clear the cartridges and the toggle bracket blocks the closure of the door thereby preventing further operation of the input/output station until all cartridges placed in the station are correctly inserted. A stop prevents insertion of the cartridge into the library robotics when the input/output station is open.

In una biblioteca della memoria di massa, una stazione dell'ingreso/uscita per l'inserimento delle cartucce in e dalla biblioteca include un portello come un perno montato alla stazione tramite le camme che come un perno ruotano una staffa leva che ha barrette, una per ogni cellula della cartuccia nella stazione dell'ingreso/uscita. Ogni cartuccia usata almeno nella stazione dell'ingreso/uscita include un indicatore di orientamento della cartuccia sotto forma d'un incavo ad un bordo superiore di ogni cartuccia. Dopo l'inserimento delle cartucce nelle cellule della stazione dell'ingreso/uscita, il portello è chiuso ruotando la staffa leva e le relative barrette nell'incavo di ogni cartuccia. Il portello si chiuderà se tutte le cartucce hanno l'incavo orientato correttamente verso il permesso le barrette eliminare le cartucce. Se almeno qualunque uno o più delle cartucce è inserito in modo errato nella cellula della stazione, le barrette levi della staffa non libero le cartucce e la staffa leva ostruisce la chiusura del portello quindi che impedisce ulteriore funzionamento della stazione dell'ingreso/uscita fino ad inserire correttamente tutte le cartucce disposte nella stazione. Un arresto impedisce l'inserzione della cartuccia nell'automatismo delle biblioteche quando la stazione dell'ingreso/uscita è aperta.
