Disclosed are multicomponent fibers wherein at least one component comprises a conventional, non-biodegradable synthetic polymer forming the exposed surface of the multicomponent fiber, thereby permitting thermal bonding of the multicomponent fiber to other fibers. The fibers also include at least one biodegradable component. The multicomponent fibers are useful in the manufacture of nonwoven structures, and in particular nonwoven structures used as a component in disposable absorbent products.

Se divulgan las fibras de varios componentes en donde por lo menos un componente abarca un polímero sintético convencional, no-biodegradable que forma la superficie expuesta de la fibra de varios componentes, de tal modo permitiendo la vinculación termal de la fibra de varios componentes a otras fibras. Las fibras también incluyen por lo menos un componente biodegradable. Las fibras de varios componentes son útiles en la fabricación de estructuras no tejidas, y en las estructuras no tejidas particulares usadas como componente en productos absorbentes disponibles.
